"Lisa is a photographer whose 'time travel' photos are the perfect combination of historic scenes intertwined with present day."
Tracey Thornton, Journalist
The Montana Standard, Butte
Lisa "has found a unique way of capturing history by taking photos she took today and combining them with photos from the past...she retakes photos shot nearly 100 years ago and melds them together as one to give an interesting then-and-now perspective"
John Emeigh, Journalist
KXLF Butte
"It's really exciting to see this melding of the two... and to see how much has changed and how little has changed."
Aubrey Jaap, Director
The BSB Archives
The 9-year-old me went wide eyed as the ground hissed. Steam rose. Water shot into the sky.
Old Faithful erupting was my first memory of Yellowstone all of those years back.
I remember feeling so small in comparison, in the best possible way.
It was like the earth itself was putting on a show just for us.
I couldn’t stop staring.
Yet the yellowed and faded photograph in the family album didn't seem to do it justice.

I remembered Old Faithful being more thrilling than the white water rafting we had done the day before on the Snake River.
Playing 'duck duck goose' around the edge, me losing my balance and falling into the ice-cold water as my sister and I laughed with glee.
We traveled along with my parents and siblings.
I got to watch my kids stand in front of Old Faithful, mesmerized and in awe as it shot hot water sky-high.
And it struck me that the wonder and curiosity I felt as a child, my children now felt.
We had the same feelings, reactions and emotions 31 years apart.
And my parents got to see their grandchildren light up with the same wide-eyed wonder they saw in me those 31 years ago.
I realized it was the same awe people must’ve felt 131 years ago.
The same awe people will feel 100 years from now.
And that awe? Is felt no matter your religion, politics, status, or generation.
It’s universal.
That’s why I created this
‘Yellowstone Time Travel’ Collection.
To bring the timeless spirit of Yellowstone into your home, to experience every day.
Introducing The "YELLOWSTONE: Time Travel Collection"
Each image combines a historical photograph with a 'today' photograph, showing the sense of wonder across generations.

Maybe your memory isn’t of Old Faithful.
Maybe it’s the bold colors of Grand Prismatic.
Or the thunder of waterfalls at Artist Point.
Maybe it’s the creak of the floors at the Old Faithful Inn.
Whatever it is, that feeling?
It’s worth savoring every day.
There are layers of stories, layers of time in each of these beautiful Yellowstone National Park Scenes.
And each time we imagine what it must have been like, or hear stories of yester-year from different generations?
It's like we travel through time.
Whether you’ve been to Yellowstone or dream of going someday, I hope these pieces take you there.
To the timeless wonder of Yellowstone.
First, I find historic images of interest from the Butte Archives, Library of Congress, or other sources.

First, I find historic images of interest from the Library of Congress, National Park Service, and other sources.
Next, I trace the major lines of each structure with a sharpie onto a transparency.
Next, I trace the major lines of each road, mountain range, and structure with a sharpie onto a transparency.

Then, I walk the scene, holding the transparency up, until I reach my final destination where all of the structures line up with the original photo.

Then, I go to the location of the historic photo, holding the transparency up, until I reach my final destination where all of the important lines match up with the original photo.
Finally, I photograph the scene, and meld the “today” photo with the historic image in Photoshop.
Lastly, I photograph the location, and meld the “today” photo with the historic image in Photoshop.

So, why give away free art?
Because nature and history connects us all together, beyond politics, religion, and status.
And, the inspiring awe of Yellowstone and nature is a feeling we have all had, as have those 100 years before us, and will for our grandkids, and those 100 years later.
My hope is that my art can create interesting conversations and stories in your life.
Here's what I REALLY want to see:
The fascinating conversations that happen when history collides between generations.
And I’m hoping that you love you free artwork so much, that when you're looking to redecorate, or just find meaningful gifts?
