"It's really exciting to see this melding of the two... and to see how much has changed and how little has changed."

Halfway across the Golden Gate Bridge, I started questioning my life choices.
Cars roared past. The wind whipped around us.
The bridge swayed just a little bit more than I was comfortable with.
Part exhilaration. Part mild panic.
It was 2009, and I gave my now husband a look that must have said “deer in headlights,” because right then he suggest that there was absolutely no reason to walk all the way across…
...when we would just have to walk all the way back.
Turning around felt like a very good decision.
But standing there on that bridge, one thought kept running through my mind.
How did someone even build this?
Pointing at pastries in a Chinatown bakery and somehow buying far more than two people should reasonably attempt. Some amazing, some… educational.
Seeing tourists leap into the middle of Lombard Street for a selfie while drivers patiently wait.
Sitting at a giant round table meant for ten people at Spicy King in Chinatown because it was the only table available. Just the two of us, spinning the lazy Suzan like VIPs
San Francisco has a funny way of creating memories like that.
For you, maybe it's...
...Watching the Golden Gate Bridge slowly appear through the fog like something out of a movie.
...Standing beneath the Palace of Fine Arts rotunda and suddenly realizing you feel very, very small.
My first trip to San Francisco was in 2009. The most recent was 2025.
Sixteen years apart, standing in many of the same places, yet a completely different person than that young 24-year-old.
And it reminded me why places like this fascinate me.
Because every street, every building, every landmark is layered with generations of people and their stories from long before we ever arrived.
Which is what inspired this project.
That’s why I created this
‘San Francisco Time Travel’ Collection.
To spark conversations, stories and memories on your wall.
Introducing The "SAN FRANCISCO: Time Travel Collection"
Each image combines a historical photograph with a 'today' photograph, showing the character, culture and spirit of the city across generations.
Bringing the stories of San Francisco alive on your own walls.

Of course there are many more icons in this incredible city.
But these four represent stories of:
The ambition to build what others believed impossible - The Golden Gate Bridge During Construction.
The culture, color, and traditions that give the city its character - Chinatown.
The creative problem-solving that turns challenges into charm - Lombard Street Before Construction.
The sweeping beauty and romance of art and architecture - The Palace of Fine Arts.
There are layers of stories, layers of time in each of these places
And each time we imagine what it must have been like, or hear stories of yester-year from different generations?
It's like we travel through time.
Whether you’ve been to San Francisco or dream of going someday, I hope these pieces take you there.
To the hills, fog, and unforgettable spirit of San Francisco.
And, whether you've been there or dream of going, to spark conversations between you and your loved ones.
First, I find historic images of interest from the Butte Archives, Library of Congress, or other sources.

First, I find historic images of interest from the Library of Congress, San Francisco Public Library, and other sources.
Next, I trace the major lines of each structure with a sharpie onto a transparency.
Next, I trace the major lines of each road, mountain range, and structure with a sharpie onto a transparency.

Then, I walk the scene, holding the transparency up, until I reach my final destination where all of the structures line up with the original photo.

Then, I go to the location of the historic photo, holding the transparency up, until I reach my final destination where all of the important lines match up with the original photo.
Finally, I photograph the scene, and meld the “today” photo with the historic image in Photoshop.
Lastly, I photograph the location, and meld the “today” photo with the historic image in Photoshop.

Because places like San Francisco connect us all together, beyond politics, religion, and status.
It’s a city built by bold ideas.
People who looked at steep hills, heavy fog, and crashing waves… and decided to build something incredible anyway.
A city full of stories, creativity, and moments people remember for the rest of their lives.
My hope is that my art can spark interesting conversations and stories in your life.
Here's what I REALLY want to see:
The fascinating conversations that happen when history collides between generations. Your own memories, and stories from those who came before us.

~Golden Gate Bridge During Construction ~
For years, people said a bridge across the Golden Gate couldn’t be built.
Too wide. Too deep. Too much wind and fog.
But someone believed it could be done, and the towers began to rise.
Give yourself permission to think bigger.
To do the things they say you can’t.
“The Golden Gate Bridge, the bridge which could not and should not be built… stands before you in all its majestic splendor.” — Chief Engineer Joseph Strauss

Charming Ingenuity
~ Lombard Street Before Construction ~
The hills of San Francisco didn’t stop the city.
They forced it to think differently, to innovate.
First it was cable cars.
Then Lombard Street, a hill with a 27% grade, transformed into a winding set of curves.
A clever solution that turned a problem into one of the most charming streets in the world.
This is your reminder: Take that challenge and transform it into something beautiful.

Architectural Romance
~ The Palace of Fine Arts ~
Strength and beauty rarely share the same stage, but they do here.
Massive columns rise beside the lagoon.
Soft reflections drift across the water.
The Palace of Fine Arts was built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition (World's Fair) and was never meant to last.
But people loved it too much to let it disappear.
A reminder that the most romantic ideas are sometimes the ones worth saving.

Culture & Color
~ Chinatown ~
The smell of fresh pastries and steamed dumplings drifts through the air.
Red lanterns hang above the street, families gather for dinner, and shopkeepers greet familiar faces.
For generations, families have built lives here, filling the streets with traditions and incredible food.
Culture and color bring the city to life.
